4runner with roof top tent in Upstate New York

Provided Contents

  • 1 x Telescoping Ladder
  • 1 x Ratcheting Wrench
  • 4 x Mounting Brackets
  • 8 x Mounting Bolts
  • 8 x Mounting Plates
  • 8 x Mounting Lock Nuts

Installation

  1. Open the tent and retrieve contents inside. There will be a small pouch that contains all mounting hardware.
  2. With two people, place the tent on top of your roof rack.
  3. Insert the 8 bolts into the mounting plates with the vertical walls facing up so that the head of the bolt is held snug.
  4. Slide all 8 plates/bolts into place around the crossbars.
  5. Install the 4 mounting brackets to the hanging bolts and secure with the 8 nuts using the 13mm wrench.
  6. After driving for 10-15 miles, check mounts and adjust if anything is loose.

Setup

  1. Release the 4 rubber latches as well as the 4 straps securing the top shell to the bottom.
  2. Push up the rear of the tent until fully extended.
  3. Push up the front of the tent until fully extended.
  4. (Optional) Insert the provided tent poles into the awning and secure to the provided holes in the side trim piece. 

Takedown

  1. Pull down front of tent.
  2. Tuck excess canvas into tent.
  3. Pull down rear of tent.
  4. Secure all latches and straps.

Operation

  1. To operate any electrical components, connect the battery (red wire to red (+) terminal and black wire to black (-) terminal). 
  2. Power is controlled by the third button on the right on the charge controller. Once power is on, use switch to control lighting.
  3. The charge controller will automatically charge the battery and shut off when the battery is fully charged.
  4. The two USB ports on the charge controller can be used at any time.

Maintenance

Seasonal- When your tent is not in use for an extended period of time, or the solar panel is going to be covered, please remove your battery and place it on a trickle charger.

4 years- Be sure to reseal your solar panel with RV caulk.

Warnings

  1. Do not exceed 75 MPH with your rooftop tent.
  2. Do not attempt to lift this product by yourself.
  3. Do not drive with tent open.
  4. Make sure your roof rack has the appropriate weight rating.
  5. Make sure all rungs of the ladder that will see pressure are locked in place and there is no weight of the ladder hanging from the tent
